What We Believe

Our beliefs are rooted in the life and teachings of Jesus, shaped by the Anabaptist/Mennonite tradition, and lived out in a community that values welcome, peace, and the sacredness of all creation.

We recognize that beliefs grow and shift over time, so we emphasize action – becoming the hands of God in a world that longs for justice and healing.

We welcome people wherever they are on their spiritual journey. Questions, doubts, and wonder about the unknown are part of how we grow in relationship with the Divine.

GOD

We believe in a loving God who is present in the beauty of nature, in acts of compassion and justice, and in the quiet stirrings of the heart. Our human efforts to make sense of the Divine may create artificial labels and boxes, but God is far beyond anything we can see or imagine.

JESUS

We follow Jesus, who embodied radical love and nonviolent transformation. His life – welcoming the outcast, challenging systems of injustice, healing those who suffered – reveals the heart of God. Jesus is our Teacher and Companion, and the clearest window to the Divine.

SPIRIT

We experience the Spirit of God as alive and active: stirring creativity, comforting the hurting, disrupting injustice, and guiding us in community. The Spirit isn’t confined to buildings or institutions, but speaks through nature, art, silence, song, and the distinct gifts within each person.

CHURCH

The Church is not a place; it’s a people – a living, breathing community of those who seek to follow Jesus together.

As a Mennonite congregation, we practice shared leadership and mutual care, working to build peace both in our personal relationships and within systems of injustice. We aim to be a community where everyone is known, valued, and invited to serve and grow.

BIBLE

We honor the Bible as a sacred story – a diverse library of ancient texts that bear witness to God’s relationship with humanity. It holds wisdom, poetry, struggle, and prophetic imagination.

Rather than reading it as a literal rulebook, we approach the Bible as a living text that still speaks, guiding us toward love, justice, and compassion in today’s world.

CHRISTIANITY

We are part of the global Christian tradition, and we recognize and wrestle with its complexity. The church has a complicated history of both healing and harm.

We strive to follow Jesus not only in name, but in how we live, how we love, and how we seek justice. We honor other faith traditions and believe God’s love is not limited to any one group or path.

COMMUNITY

We believe faith is something we grow into together through relationships, shared stories, and sacred connection with the land and the Divine.

Together, we commit to the healing of our neighborhoods and the world. We carry each other’s burdens and celebrate each other’s joys.

We encounter the holy in surprisingly ordinary occurrences: shared meals, laughter, or in truly listening to one another.

We believe Jesus did not come to create a Christian nation, but to form a new kind of community rooted in love, justice, and radical welcome.

Our loyalty is not to political power or national identity, but to the transforming way of Jesus. He calls us to love our enemies, welcome the stranger, speak truth with compassion, and walk humbly with God.

We seek to follow Jesus by living faithfully within our community and working for peace and dignity so that all people may flourish.
