First Mennonite Church Of San Francisco

What To Expect

We would love to worship with you at 9:30 on a Sunday morning!

Our worship follows a creative liturgy, which includes prayers of varying kinds (including silence), hymns (a cappella or accompanied by piano), a children's story time, an inspiring sermon, special music offered by members of the congregation, and a warm time of sharing during Prayers of the People. Challenging ourselves to study and reflect on all scripture, not just the passages we prefer, we generally follow the Revised Common Lectionary.

Dress is casual and services last about 75 minutes. Childcare is provided for children in Kindergarten and younger. We provide bags of quiet toys for children who stay in the sanctuary for worship.

After worship you are warmly invited to join us in a time of Fellowship with good coffee, tea, and tasty, healthy refreshments. This time is followed by Adult Education Hour and Sunday School for children and youth. Some of us conclude the morning by going out to lunch together at one of the many excellent restaurants nearby.

First Mennonite Church of San Francisco would like all services to be accessible to those with chemical sensitivities. We ask that you please refrain from wearing perfume, cologne, and scented products. This is also the policy of FMCSF's host, Congregation Sha'ar Zahav.

If you are are interested in receiving the weekly email announcements, sent on Thursday morning, please contact Charity Horst, Administrative Coordinator, at info (at) menno (dot) org.
