First Mennonite Church of San Francisco is a Mennonite USA church serving people throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. We are a small and diverse church community. Our members comprise families and singles, young and old, as well as many social, economic, and political orientations. Our diversity helps build and support our community. Learn more about us, about our worship services, and about the Mennonite Voluntary Service unit supported by our congregation. Our church is a member of the Pacific Southwest Mennonite Conference, which is a Member Conference of the greater Mennonite Church USA.
We are a member of the Supportive Congregations Network, a network of Mennonite congregations who openly affirm and welcome gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people to participate actively in all aspects of congregational life.
We are also affiliated with the Mennonite Central Committee, which is the relief and service agency of many Mennonite denominations.
First Mennonite Church of San Francisco traces its roots to 1975 when a Voluntary Service unit moved from Stockton to San Francisco, and James and Leanne Rhodes moved from the Harrisonburg, Virginia, area to San Francisco to start a church.
I have found joy here that feeds my soul.
